Connected vehicle data

BMW CarData, in your Chicane garage

The car's own readings and your tracking experience, together. An owner-authorised integration built into Chicane's OEM garage for supported BMW vehicles.

More of the car's story

See available manufacturer readings in a dedicated panel. Each keeps its BMW value, unit and reading timestamp.

Mileage & range

Recorded vehicle mileage, fuel percentage and quantity, fuel range and electric range where the vehicle supplies them.

Battery & charging

Available high-voltage charge, charging status and low-voltage battery charge. Missing readings remain unavailable.

Service information

Available distance to service and BMW's recorded inspection date in the garage and service view. The inspection date is distinct from UK MOT expiry.

Model & paint

VIN-specific model and paint details can improve the garage's recorded-colour presentation while preserving your chosen appearance overrides.

BMW vehicle images

A vehicle-specific image supplied by BMW can appear on garage cards and the vehicle dashboard. An illustration is used when an image is unavailable.

Clear data freshness

Reading time and retrieval time are labelled separately. Older readings are identified, and opening the garage serves cached data without a fresh BMW request.

Connected by the owner

BMW sign-in stays with BMW. Chicane never asks for the owner's BMW password.

  1. Enable BMW access

Create a client ID and enable CarData API access in the BMW customer portal, then enter that client ID in Chicane's OEM settings.

  2. Approve & pair

Complete BMW's sign-in and consent flow. Discover your primary vehicle, choose standard or custom readings, and pair it with an existing visible Chicane vehicle.

  3. Read in your garage

Retrieve the available readings, details and image. Review them in the garage or service view and refresh explicitly when needed.

Pairing checks the recorded VIN and keeps one BMW pairing per vehicle in that connection. The connection is scoped to the linking Chicane login; other users do not automatically receive its BMW data.

A richer garage experience

Tracking and car data,
with their sources intact.

Chicane's OEM garage brings vehicle cards, live tracker mapping, journey replay, service reminders, recorded service history, alerts and available MOT/recall information into one responsive experience across browser and native hosts.

BMW readings sit alongside this experience. They retain their source and do not overwrite tracker positions, journey history, odometer readings or service thresholds. The standard reading group contains no location fields.

Owner access & release scope

  • Supported BMW vehicle, market and owner access are required; available fields vary by equipment and permissions.
  • BMW consent, enabled CarData API access and a configured Chicane OEM deployment are required.
  • Connections and cached BMW data are encrypted at rest. Unpair or disconnect to remove the local connection data.
  • Readings retrieved on request, with caching and request limits. Continuous streaming, background refresh and remote car commands are outside this release.
  • Enterprise business-account integration remains future work. Live owner consent and target-device acceptance still need deployment validation.
