LocationAPI
A hosted HTTP service that turns addresses into coordinates, coordinates into addresses, and points into routes, on Code Monkey's own OpenStreetMap-based clusters.
Free tierAPIGETgeocode·route
LocationAPI runs geocoding and routing on our own clusters built on OpenStreetMap data — positioned as a cheaper, simpler-sign-up alternative to the big map providers.
Forward geocode, reverse geocode and route from a few simple HTTP calls, with no hard per-call rate caps.
Features
- Forward geocoding: free-text address → lat/lon plus structured fields (street, city, county, postcode, country)
- Reverse geocoding: lat/lon → a formatted address with the same structured fields
- Routing: start/end → distance, drive time and a dense polyline
- Long cross-country routes supported
- Simple API-key auth; JSON responses with a success flag for easy fallback
- Pay-as-you-go with simple sign-up — cheaper than the big providers
